Pupil Premium

General Statement

The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011. The funding is provided in addition to the main College funding from the LA and is intended to help disadvantaged pupils to ‘close the gap’ and to raise attainment and improve progress. Children who are eligible include:

Pupils who have been registered for Free School Meals (FSM) at any point in the last six years
Pupils who are Looked After Children.
Pupils who have been children of armed services personnel at any point in the last four years.
Children who have been adopted from Local Authority Care.

Not all of our pupils are eligible for FSM and so the College does, at times, use the funding to support a wider range of pupils who have been identified as disadvantaged in some way, ie group activities where some, but not all pupils, are eligible for Pupil Premium.

Foundry College is committed to ensuring these funds are used effectively, supplemented by the college’s budget to provide additional support so that “pupils’ needs are effectively met through a wide range of interventions specifically tailored for them.” (Ofsted 2012).

The Headteacher is responsible for ensuring that the College’s Management Committee receives regular reports highlighting the spending, progress and impact of the Pupil Premium funding. Pupil Premium is an important item on the Management Committee Agenda.
